About
Heather Alexander, sole proprietor and top dog of Hamilton House & Hounds.
Heather’s love for animals began at a very early age when she got her first pet growing up right here in Hamilton, New Jersey. There hasn’t been a time in her life when pets weren’t a major part of her life. But her introduction to pet care began when she decided to open her home up to dogs and cats in need through various rescues. In order to help multiple pets at a time, Heather needed to develop a system to introduce them and maintain a happy and safe environment in the home. Heather spent time reading, going to canine seminars, and working with rescue trainers. One of the key things she learned was dogs need to be exercised daily for health and mental stimulation as well as opportunities for developing socialization kills. Throughout the past 15 years, Heather has worked with rescues to foster dogs, as well as cats, to ensure they have a chance at a better life. She helped these lost and brokenhearted animals flourish into amazing family members though loving care, patience and training. Fostering these animals has been the most life-fulfilling thing she has ever done. Today Heather and her husband share their home with seven dogs of various ages, all from different rescue situations with varying levels of medical needs. Over the years, friends, rescue members and family entrusted their precious pets in Heather’s care because they knew that she treated all animals as she would her own pets. As many of her dogs have special needs, she was able to provide the extra time and attention these pets needed to manage their day-to-day care. Heather also used her years of rescue work training to assist with those occasional cases with behavioral issues. In 2017, Heather decided to take the leap of faith and leave corporate American to pursue a profession that was rewarding and meaningful. Heather is committed to providing the most effective and convenient solutions to her clients’ pet needs. The safety and well being of the pets in her care is her number one focus.
